Woods
It is absolutely true that the different woods give different voice to an instrument. What most folks do not realize is how subtle that difference really is. A MUCH greater contributor to difference in voice is the manner in which the luthier handles and tunes the woods. Walnut in the hands of one luthier can be bright and in another muddy. Classical luthiers work to bring a specific type of voice out of the wood and that voice is going to be distinctive no matter what wood is used.
Basically, any of these woods can be thinned, tapered and braced to produce the desired tone. Choosing any of these woods will produce a harp that is beautiful sounding. After that, the most important thing is to select woods that are pleasing to your eye and appropriate to your lifestyle. All Rees Harps are made with green certified woods, cherry, walnut, and maple.
